JACKY TSAI | NEW SCREENPRINT EDITION LAUNCH

October 3rd 2015
Jacky Tsai’s eagerly-awaited new screenprint is the paper version of the stunning Chinese Floral Skull image that appeared on his spectacular lenticular work released last month. Read more about the exciting new print below.

September was a busy month for Chinese artist Jacky Tsai, with the release of Eyestorm edition Chinese Floral Skull Lenticular, which saw him taking on a new medium for the first time, followed by the opening of his London solo show that proved to be a fantastic success with most works on display selling in just two weeks.

Meanwhile here at Eyestorm we’ve been planning the release of his impressive new screenprint edition, which we’re launching today. Chinese Floral Skull is the print version of the lenticular, and sees Jacky transform his stunning image into a large-scale screenprint. Working at the print studio - who are conveniently based in the same building as Jacky’s Shoreditch studio - Jacky utilized screenprinter Jess’s outstanding printmaking skills to help him create what is possibly one of his most striking editions to date.

Taking inspiration from the floral skull he created for Alexander McQueen back in 2008, Jacky introduces exotic and unusual birds such as stalks and peacocks along with symbolic butterflies and fuses them together with traditional Chinese flowers. The colour palette is a harmonious display of pinks, deeps reds, oranges and blue, which look spectacular in the rich screenprinted inks. The landscape that surrounds the skull echoes that of previous Eyestorm editions War War War and Save Empress Wu released earlier this year, and provides the perfect foundation to the overall image, acting almost like a stage curtain where the skull is the star performer.

With the perfect balance of captivating colour vibrancy and visual harmony, Chinese Floral Skull is a spectacular screenprint that’s sure to impress any fan of Jacky Tsai’s work. It’s almost certainly set to become another iconic piece by the artist, as seen with now sold out single skull pieces such as ‘Soul Harvest’ (2012) and ‘Vermilion Garden’ (2013), and therefore an ideal work to either start or add to a Tsai collection.

In an edition of 60, the prints are available at the launch price of £2500.00 for a limited period. View the piece in more detail here .

In our fast-paced, ever-changing world, where it seems we can barely keep up with the rapid development of technology, Jacky Tsai, an artist whose work juxtaposes the old and new, past and present, east and west, quite aptly explores the theme of AI technology in his new lenticular print edition - Artificial Intelligence.
