Ross Holden Biography

Ross Holden’s large scale works present an often challenging, unique observation of what shapes the world around us, whether it be major world events, political issues or everyday life. By using colour photographic imagery in slick, perfectly formed circular repetition, referred to as ‘mandala format’, the artist’s satirical tone is apparent through carefully chosen iconography to give a fresh perspective on what we might take for granted.

Finding this method of working incredibly versatile, Holden believes that it allows him to treat themes both big and small with great impact and a sense of humour. From a distance the works appear as visually stunning mosaics of pattern and colour, but as a closer look is taken, the striking message is revealed. The idea spurred from Holden’s interest in the way a situation is often judged by a passing observation. In these works he attempts to challenge and subvert the perception of a media age that favours presentation over content.

Based in London, Holden graduated with BA in Illustration and MA in Fine Art. With his first large-scale commission, Holden recently joined the prestigious ranks of artists including Man Ray, David Hockney and Paul Nash in receiving the commission from Transport for London to create their promotional campaigns. Holden’s TFL campaign is one of the few times an artist has been granted permission to alter the iconic London Underground logo.

In our fast-paced, ever-changing world, where it seems we can barely keep up with the rapid development of technology, Jacky Tsai, an artist whose work juxtaposes the old and new, past and present, east and west, quite aptly explores the theme of AI technology in his new lenticular print edition - Artificial Intelligence.

DO YOU HAVE A DAMIEN HIRST TO SELL?
Valium
With two major exhibitions during the Venice Biennale, 2017 has been a year which has increased the awareness of Damien Hirst. With Hirst still actively releasing new print editions, many collectors focus on his earlier work from 2000 and before, such as Valium, Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD), Opium, Beautiful, Galactic, Exploding Screenprint (Spin) and Painting-by-Numbers.

If you have one of the above prints that you are potentially interested in selling, please do get in touch with us via the Contact page, which you can find here.
