Finding this method of working incredibly versatile, Holden believes that it allows him to treat themes both big and small with great impact and a sense of humour.

From a distance the works appear as visually stunning mosaics of pattern and colour, but as a closer look is taken, the striking message is revealed. The idea spurred from Holden’s interest in the way a situation is often judged by a passing observation. In these works he attempts to challenge and subvert the perception of a media age that favours presentation over content.

Based in London, Holden graduated with BA in Illustration and MA in Fine Art. Publications have included The Observer, The Guardian, The Big Issue, Esquire and New Scientist.

With his first large-scale commercial campaign, Holden recently joined the prestigious ranks of artists including Man Ray, David Hockney and Paul Nash in receiving the commission from Transport for London to design and illustrate their promotional campaigns. Holden’s TFL campaign is one of the few times an artist has been granted permission to alter the iconic London Underground logo.
