Now in its seventh year, the Threadneedle art prize was set up to honour figurative art today by championing the most interesting artists in Europe. We’re excited to announce our very own Gill Rocca has been selected for this year’s exhibition for her small circular painting ‘Figment VII’.

Looking at David Jones’ work is like taking a trip down memory lane. Despite not knowing any of the subjects of his vibrant, highly varnished paintings, or never having visited any of the places he presents, somehow they have a familiarity about them that enables us to take a moment to fondly think about our own years gone by.

New York based French photographer Carine Magescas’ minimal seascapes are inspired by the vast open beaches of California. Angie introduces the work and talks more about the series below.

The impressive aerial photographs that form Andre Lichtenberg’s Vertigo series explore London’s Canary Wharf area from a rarely seen perspective. Created in early 2008, the series documents a very powerful yet somewhat private part of the capital (photography is not permitted in some areas) which has been completely regenerated since the late nineties into a world-famous site of innovative design and eye-catching architecture.
