Award-winning painter and printmaker Marcelle Hanselaar has been busy preparing for her most recent solo show, which opens at the Millennium Gallery in St Ives next week.

Gambling Skull is Eyestorm’s sixth screenprint edition with Chinese artist Jacky Tsai and quite a piece it is. The second in an on-going series of over-sized playing cards by the artist - the first being the spectacular ‘Poker Skull’ released last year - Gambling Skull sees Jacky take imagery from the Chinese gambling world to create his latest skull, a symbol he has become renowned for and has developed over the years since he created the well-known ‘floral skull’ image for the Alexander McQueen fashion label in 2008.

This time next week we’ll be back in New York at the Spring edition of the Affordable Art Fair, presenting the latest new work at Eyestorm. Artists exhibiting will include Henrik Simonsen, with screenprints Amber Dusk, Gold Dusk and the new Hemlock Blue; Noma Bar’s fantastic suite of large scale editions; and new original works by Lucie Bennett, James Hunter, Jacky Tsai, and Gill Rocca.

New this week we have original drawings by Stephanie Homa. There’s something very endearing about Stephanie Homa’s small-scale works on paper. Playful and child-like, they represent an honest style of working that we can all relate to, whether it reminds of us how we used to draw when we were children, or how our own children depict their view of the world.

We’re excited that Noma Bar has been shortlisted for Designer of the Year at the Drum Design awards, due to take place in April. Curated by former Design Week editor Linda Relph-Knight, Noma has made the top 100 industry nominations alongside leading names in the creative world such as Paul Smith, Neville Brody, Peter Saville, Anthony Burrill and Bob & Roberta Smith.
