LUCIE BENNETT | NEW NEON EDITION LAUNCH

June 19th 2015
‘Marianne In Lights’ is our new neon edition by Lucie Bennett. Making its debut at Art Hamptons 2-5th July 2015, where we’ll be showing a selection of Eyestorm works including some original paintings by Lucie, Marianne in Lights is the second neon in the series, and follows the pink ‘Romy In Lights’ earlier this year. Angie talks more about the work below.

When we released Lucie Bennett’s Romy In Lights back in January, we were all very excited about the impressive new medium Lucie had chosen to present her simple line drawings of women. And when we saw the piece we were even more impressed. Its first showing with Eyestorm was at AAF Battersea in March, where it sold immediately, and this was shortly followed by an inclusion at AAF in New York a few weeks later, again selling more than once over the four days it was being exhibited. The response towards it from fair-goers was a great one, with hardly anyone passing by without taking a closer look.

Today we’re presenting the second neon in the series, Marianne in Lights. In stunning electric blue light, she’s just as impressive as her sister as she takes an equally sassy pose, hair up, her eyes hidden behind her fringe.

These works have been carefully made to match Lucie’s images exactly with neon bulbs mounted in Perspex. And the size is an impressive one; at 110 x 75 cm both pieces have so far proven to appeal to both Lucie Bennett fans and those who love statement pieces.

Marianne in Lights is an edition of just 5 and is available to buy online for £5500.00. See the piece on more detail here.

Danish artist Henrik Simonsen has time and time again captivated us with his ability to represent the beauty of nature’s forms, composition, light, and colour through his original prints and paintings. An artist who is inspired by his time spent in the Scandinavian countryside, Simonsen not only creates works from his observations of plants’ and flowers’ physical features, but also from his personal impressions and experiences of nature.

Bennett first came into the limelight in 2004 when her work featured in the first British series of the TV show, The Apprentice, where the contestants hosted a solo exhibition of her paintings in London’s most established gallery row, Cork Street.

With their tender expressions, intimate compositions, and delicate colour palettes, Lucie Bennett’s recent works saw the artist take a somewhat new direction with her depictions of women - no longer vivacious and dominating, but instead subtle, thoughtful, and dreamlike - caught in their own private moment.
