Andre Biography

As a graffiti writer who started out in the mid-80s, André is known for his distinctive stick character ‘Mr. A’ which he drew everywhere throughout the streets of Paris during the late 1990s.

Nowadays he is also a recognised as a night-life entrepreneur, being the face of a host of nightclubs in Paris, Tokyo and New York, and as the editor of the Paris issue of French fashion magazine Purple. In 2009 he appeared together with his Mr. A character in a film for Belvedere Vodka as part of their advertising campaign and he most recently featured in the new Banksy film ‘Exit Through The Gift Shop’. The image of Mr. A has been presented onto fashion accessories, many of which were sold in the Paris boutique he owned with his ex-wife, as well as on a range of surfboards for Quicksilver. Eyestorm are excited to be publishing these two screenprints with the artist, which feature the infamous fictional character that he is best known for.

ABOUT THIS ARTIST
December 26th 2017
“A city without graffiti is a dead city” and so is the mantra for the man whom street artists and fans call André, Monsieur A, Mr A or Monsieur André. His iconic personal tag of a round-headed cartoon with a devilish grin, top hat and winking eye established him as a breakthrough artist at a time when the alphabet provided the basis of most graffiti art.

DO YOU HAVE A DAMIEN HIRST TO SELL?
Valium
With two major exhibitions during the Venice Biennale, 2017 has been a year which has increased the awareness of Damien Hirst. With Hirst still actively releasing new print editions, many collectors focus on his earlier work from 2000 and before, such as Valium, Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD), Opium, Beautiful, Galactic, Exploding Screenprint (Spin) and Painting-by-Numbers.

If you have one of the above prints that you are potentially interested in selling, please do get in touch with us via the Contact page, which you can find here.
