We are proud to announce the first solo show in New York City by the London-based Chinese artist Jacky Tsai.

'Culture Clash' is a continuation of Tsai's exploration of a visual dialogue between traditional Eastern craft and Western pop art.

The exhibition of unique pieces will include hand-crafted lacquer carvings, painted porcelain, embroidered silk, paint on canvas and eight limited screenprint editions.

Opening on September 22nd thru October 2nd, 2016, the solo show will be open daily from 11am to 6pm.

Born in Shanghai, Jacky Tsai is best known in the public eye for his creation of the iconic floral skull for Alexander McQueen. In the past eight years things have moved fast for the London-based artist.

Tsai has constantly developed his 'Chinese Pop Art' and is never afraid to try new creative routes, keeping plenty of references from his Chinese background and upbringing as well as western pop art. His exhibition in NYC includes new work with characters such as Chinese emperors, geishas and warriors, playfully engaging with mermaids, Storm Troopers, Batman and a hung-over Superman.

From his years with Alexander McQueen and running his own fashion label in the years after, Jacky Tsai has close ties to the fashion world.

Drawing inspiration from traditional Chinese wallpaper and its repetitive patterns, there is a strong link to printed fabrics. This brought him to a collaboration with luxury brand Shanghai Tang to develop creative styles for their 20th Anniversary in 2014.

His work is a combination of intriguing stories with a good sense of subdued humour and high quality craftmanship has led him to the hearts of many collectors. Jacky Tsai simply has a global appeal, which has seen his prices increase manifold in less than five years.
