Over the many years that we have worked with contemporary artist Lucie Bennett, one of the prevailing motifs in her work has been that of women - resilient women, sensitive women, beautiful women - images that both empower and sensualise the female form. Only recently with the release of The Embrace late last year, have we seen the inclusion of a male figure in Bennett’s work. This welcome addition to her usual solitary female figures has also seen a shift towards a softer focus in Bennett’s images - exploring themes of tenderness, intimacy, and the unique relationship between two lovers.
