Sława Harasymowicz’s screenprints, distinctive in style, work as the artist’s own collection of icons. Evocative, as a series of works they allow the viewer to create their own links and connections. The technique applied in the making of Harasymowicz’s work relates to her interest in the blurred lines between the real and the imagined. Each piece is hand printed by the artist, and the occasional mis-registration of layers is intentional, with colours also often varying slightly, making each piece within a limited edition unique.

The finished works are based on realistic drawings, which are then often cut up and rebuilt, creating slightly skewed images, before finally ending up as subtly layered screenprints. Sława Harasymowicz grew up in Krakow (Poland) and studied philology and translation, before moving to London where she completed an MA at the Royal College of Art in 2006, followed by Experimental Printmaking at London College of Printing. Since then she has participated in a variety of projects and exhibitions.
A double winner at V&A Illustration Awards and a jury member at the Awards in 2010, she is a recipient of the Arts Foundation Fellowship, which she received from Sir Peter Blake in 2008.
She is currently completing Wolfman, a graphic novel based on one Freud’s case studies, scheduled for publication by Self Made Hero in early 2012.
