Biography
AES Group consists of three Russian artists based in Moscow. After working together for over 15 years, the group has gained a considerable international reputation for work that combines wit, visual impact and politics; their humour carries a serious punch line. The works in this series represent Islamic and Western culture combined, which started in 1996 as an installation and performance piece involving interaction with the general public.
It works as a type of social psychoanalysis, which orientates around the western society’s views and fears of the religion of Islam. Each well known world landmark has been associated with Islam and includes imagery and photographs of the Islamic community and culture. The project was shown in Russia, the USA and South Korea and Eyestorm have some of the prints available to buy online.

| the Russian Artist Collective
AES Group or AES+F as they’ve been called since 1995, have been making videos, sculptures, and digital projects together since the late 1980s. They construct elaborate, allegorical scenarios to create biting social commentary. Rising in tandem with Russia’s post-Soviet art boom during the late 1990s and early 2000s, their work has been shown in scores of galleries and museums across the globe.
