Dan Baldwin Biography

Dan Baldwin’s work deals with ideas of love, innocence, life and mortality, politics and symbolism. Inspired by Pop art in his beginnings as an artist, he often incorporates imagery from the movement, portraying everyday objects in different types of paint and other materials. Baldwin creates a ‘layering’ system that encourages an element of spontaneity and chance into his work, never initially planning how a work will eventually turn out. Although primarily a painter, Baldwin also creates ceramic work.

Born in Manchester in 1972, Baldwin graduated from Maidstone school of art in 1995 and since then has exhibited globally alongside artists such as Banksy, Antony Micallef, Jamie Reid and Peter Blake.

In September 2006 he was voted critic’s choice at the Saatchi Gallery and up until today, he has regularly received acclaims for his work and contributions. Collectors of his work include Elton John, Damien Hirst, Liam Howlett and many more. Baldwin currently lives and works in Sussex.

Recommended Reading
Throughout his creative practice, contemporary artist Dan Baldwin has collected images. From old reference books on science or anatomy, biology and nature, to newspaper archive photos from the 50s and 60s - everyday, new thoughts and influences enter Baldwin’s studio. He is drawn to images instinctively, allowing them to impact his works in new and surprising ways. Baldwin describes this unique process as creating his own language, giving him the freedom to shape his art in whatever direction he pleases.

DO YOU OWN A DAMIEN HIRST PRINT EDITION YOU WISH TO SELL?
Valium
With two major exhibitions during the Venice Biennale, 2017 was a year which increased the awareness of Damien Hirst. With Hirst still actively releasing new print editions, many collectors focus on his earlier work from 2000 and before, such as Valium, Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD), Opium, Beautiful, Galactic, Exploding Screenprint (Spin) and Painting-by-Numbers.

If you have one of the above prints that you are potentially interested in selling, please do get in touch with us via the Contact page, which you can find here.
