Alfredo Jaar
Alfredo Jaar is one of the most uncompromising artists working today. His installations, combining elements of photography, architecture and theater, and often featuring graphic documentary imagery in the form of back-lit transparencies, explore the complex relationships between developed nations and the so-called Third World. In his work, Jaar tracks and highlights the ironies and injustices which characterize those relationships, and plays out the systematic pursuit of profit which drives them.
